Scream Queens

The series is undemanding and simple - a relaxing watch, which lets you just switch off and chuckle at the witty criticism of contemporary society. I quite enjoyed this series and had a lot of good laughs. Unfortunately, this only applies to the first season. The second season wasn’t that amusing, I was rather disappointed. (18.01.2020)

I never thought I would say this, but the first season was a real surprise. The series is so unbelievably silly that it’s amazing what perfect satire and critique of contemporary society is hidden inside. No, seriously, I wasn’t expecting to give more than two stars, but I guess you can’t judge it by a few trailers and other people’s reviews. It’s true that there were quite a few logic holes, but who really cares about logic in this case. The search for the killer worked surprisingly well, I quite liked the humor, the frequent film references were a nice touch and the acting performances were surprisingly good. I also appreciated the funny tribute to Carrie Fisher. (22.08.2019)

I had no idea what to expect from this series, but I definitely wasn't prepared for such a dose of stupidity and humor. If I were a viewer who has to experience passionate art lover feelings every time I look at the screen, I would have quit by now. But I'm just a fairly simple monster who likes to have fun, and I had fun with the pilot episode. (20.08.2019)

Thanks to the second episode, I understood why the series is called Scream Queens, after this, there can be no doubt anymore :-) I'm also glad I don't have to think about which of the Chanels is the biggest idiot, Victory effortlessly blew them all away, that's a really great character. For now, it is still a matter that does not require much brain function, which is why I am surprised how much I enjoy it. (20.08.2019)

After the third episode, it is clear to me that I could justify any rating from one star to four stars. The plot seemed incredibly silly at times, but somehow I still enjoyed it in a twisted way. I have to give a very positive rating to Claufield's fight against the Red Devil. I feel like the creators must have seen the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail and liked the scene with the Black Knight. And then there's the Kappa Kappa Tau society - the name is fine as long as you don't just use the acronym. When I saw the sign in the parade saying "I'm not a KKT," I had a great laugh. (21.08.2019)

This time, I had no reason to lower the rating. The story continues, the ride is not completely smooth, it throws and squeaks a lot, but there was always something that convinced me that I should definitely not get off. I was struck by the more or less hidden criticism of current peculiar/stupid human behavior, which actually works here since the first episode, and I wouldn't expect it in such a simple matter. Despite the nice reference to "The Silence of the Lambs", this time I had to lower the rating because the fifth episode seemed somewhat dull to me. It's strange because quite a lot happened, but the problem was that for the first time this season, I noticed that I wasn't enjoying it that much. (21.08.2019)

The previous episode seemed somewhat weaker to me, but the sixth episode came with an improvement, this time Chanel 3 really impressed me, I enjoyed every sentence of hers. However, I was saddened by Caulfield's loss, his unique style, in which he didn't leave fingerprints, will be missed by me. (21.08.2019)

I laughed happily again while summoning the dead, Chad is still as intelligent as a rocking horse and I also quite enjoyed the story of Feather McCarthy, the creators also came up with a rebellion in Chanelland, so this time I didn't have to be considered a bad critic either. (21.08.2019)

Bloody sport portrayed by Jamie Lee Curtis was extremely entertaining, but the rest of the plot didn't really captivate me. I don't know, maybe it was my fault, but the ongoing investigation seemed a bit boring to me, except for the mentioned fight, the whole thing was only revived by the death online, and that was not enough. Furthermore, the character Denise Hemphill is starting to really annoy me, this stereotypical figure was supposed to be funny, but... (21.08.2019)

In the ninth episode, the number of dead has increased again, but nothing else caught my attention significantly. The creators have accurately followed up on the previous episode, which also did not convince me too much. It seems to me that they are somewhat running out of steam in the second half of the season, it could use more humor. (22.08.2019)

Please, in the comment to the previous episode, I complained about the lack of humor, and in the next episode, I was invited (or did I intrude?) to Thanksgiving at the Radwells'. This time, I had plenty of reasons to laugh, and I enjoyed myself both at the Radwells' and at the KKT house (I still enjoy it). (22.08.2019)

After Thanksgiving, there was a downturn again. The plot of the eleventh episode didn't have what it takes for me to appreciate it with a better grade. There were a few bright moments, but most of the episode was very unremarkable. Additionally, after a very short break, Denise Hamphil returned to the story, and that couldn't really please me. The twelfth episode definitely belonged to the more entertaining parts, something was always happening, I could often laugh and the story also gained a higher pace, it was evident that the season is coming to an end. Personally, I was probably most amused by Chanelek's visit to Melanie and Wes's sacrifice for the team. (22.08.2019)

Even the final episode did not deny that it is still a simpler series, all the more I wouldn't expect any deeper thoughts in it, and yet the creators managed to sneak them into some episodes here and there. Here it was probably most pronounced, the Amíci simply have their joyful moments (Salem, MeToo...). (22.08.2019)

I raved about the first season, so the second one was all the more disappointing. The hospital environment didn’t work as well for me as the high school setting. The creators did not even come up with anything new, the season only recycled the previously used strategies, trying to use the same funny plots as before, which didn’t really do it for me and bored me instead. 3*- (18.01.2020)

The kick-off to the second season didn't quite hit the spot like the previous one. I found the shift from high school to hospital setting a tad underwhelming. Plus, the new killer's costume color is hardly the groundbreaking change I was hoping for. But hey, at least Billie Lourd as Chanel #3 is still in the mix, and that's a saving grace in my book. Well, after giving the second episode a go, I've got to say, my heart still belongs to the first season. Something about Chad Radwell's return just didn't tickle my funny bone like it did before. Sure, the Chanel-Dr. Holt date was decent enough, but the moment Denise Hemphill chimed in with her distinctive voice, my enthusiasm took a nosedive. (17.01.2020)

What started as an enjoyable series is now feeling rather uninteresting and dull. The humor that made the first season so great seems to have gone missing, and I can't help but wonder if the change in setting has something to do with it. Even silence of the lambs couldn't quite salvage the situation. (17.01.2020)

Well, talk about a nosedive in quality. The second Chaneloween felt like a lackluster imitation of the original concept from the first season. And don't even get me started on Niecy Nash's voice.
