englanti In this movie, Idris Elba is tougher than a coffin nail and he also acts like it. An interesting action movie without a pinch of any emotion. ()

englanti The French and action simply go together, and here it fits well. Idris Elba is rightly tough, but Richard Madden as a pickpocket is also a pleasant surprise, and paradoxically the pickpocketing scenes are more interesting than the action ones, which lacked roughness and an R-rating touch. The brisk pace is also a plus. An okay one-off, but it doesn't work out at 4 for me. 65%. ()

englanti Bastille Day is likable action movie with the hard-fisted Idris in the role of a CIA badass who solves every situation by disobeying orders, bending the rules and shooting people. Almost like one of Besson’s very best screenplays fell from his desk. A lot of borrowing goes on in all directions, but director James Watkins, who had a hit with his Eden Lake, always channels the action into the right genre alley. And the lesson learned? Maybe this will persuade American muggers not to rob European tourists. ()

englanti I was expecting those typical French filmmakers to surprise us with another genre gem, as they’ve done many times before. While it wasn’t a blockbuster, it was definitely watchable. Unlike the new Jack Reacher, it had a meaningful story that didn’t rely solely on clichés, but also included interesting twists and an even more intriguing plot. I expected more action scenes, but when they did come, they were truly captivating (especially the fight in the van, which was worth it). The performances weren’t as strong, though. Idris Elba was undoubtedly suitable for the lead role; the agent character fit him, but his monotonous expression started to annoy me after a few minutes. The other actors performed even worse, which I wouldn’t have expected from such talent. Also, the ending felt tacked on, which is a real shame. The film definitely had higher potential, but silly mistakes and lackluster performances brought it down. It’s decent entertainment for a single viewing, but I wouldn’t watch it again. 63%. ()

englanti Bastille Day is a pleasant action thriller with a very good pace and, above all, characters that are more than bearable. Idris Elba is excellent as a secret agent; I don't know why I didn't believe him as an action character. Plenty of villains, plenty of shooting, basically everything you expect from such a movie. I am satisfied, even though the plot is simple. Sometimes it doesn't matter. ()
