Emma, a middle-aged Chinese-American, decides to leave her husband and shows up at her estranged son Elliot's doorstep in downtown Los Angeles. He's been struggling to keep the mediocre family restaurant afloat, and at the same time, his personal life could do with some improvements. He's promiscuous and unable to emotionally commit to the guys he dates. Emma, flicking through Elliot's gay magazines and encouraged by his extroverted neighbour Maureen, slowly comes to terms with her son's homosexuality. Things are starting to look up for Elliot when he meets charming musician Aidan. It is also about time to save the restaurant from closure, and where words fail them, the mother and son discover the connection through their common love of food. (Febiofest)
