Talk about a wild ride! The first episode of the fifth season had the central duo giving it their all. Apart from the usual characters, we also got to meet Mr. Nimbus, who sure was something. But, let me tell you, the creators really blew my mind with the interdimensional aging of wine and all the chaos it unleashed. So, this episode didn't score five stars from me because it didn't seem to go anywhere. The family massacres were downright brutal and sickly entertaining, but it did start feeling like a loop after a while. I wouldn't recommend it to schizophrenics; that endless loop might mess with their heads. Even I got a bit spooked staring at myself in the mirror. / Lesson learned: When a real crisis hits, what's more crucial – survival supplies or family? Think about it. Tick, tock, tick, tock... The episode was a win for me, mainly because it brought in more Summer. Although I think that the three apocalyptic parties didn't need to play it so safe. What really hooked me was Morty's storyline with Al...Planetina, which even had a deeper message. / Lesson learned: if you're living like it's the end of the world, might as well make sure it actually is. So, there was this lingering doubt that the episode might flop, but it faded away like the squad of perfectly trained marines, Blazen included. The fourth episode was brilliantly inappropriate, and in my book, Beth and Summer were the stealth MVPs. A great episode. First off, it brought the laughs with those Cenobites. Plus, we got a deeper dive into the personality of Rick's spacecraft, and turns out, it's a sadistic, murderous psychopath. I'd say it's somewhere in the middle, but you gotta give props for the creators making fun of the over-the-top American patriotism. Not gonna say it's flawless, but when it comes to comedy, my main gauge is whether I'm having a good time. The seventh episode did the trick, especially when things got real good in that post-credits scene. This episode was like a blast from the past with one of the best characters making a comeback, and it was downright entertaining. The episode took us on a fancy trip down memory lane. Even with the rest of the family being absent, Rick, Rick, and Birdperson held it down, giving me many a chuckle. Alright, so this episode felt somewhat atypical. The creators spun separate storylines for Morty and Rick, putting their rocky relationship front and center in the ninth episode. What the creators lightly introduced in the previous episode, they brought to a conclusion in this one. The fifth season finale delivered the usual top-notch humor, but there was something extra. The visit to the Citadel took the main storyline to a whole new level, and despite the laughs, it got pretty serious and dark.
