UnREAL

After the end of the first season, I was quite surprised that my overall rating got as high as four stars. I didn’t find some of the episodes interesting at all. But I have only myself to blame. If I don't like reality TV shows, I shouldn't watch a series about the making of such a show. I once saw two episodes of the Bachelor, which apparently served as the inspiration for this fictional show, and I must admit it was exactly as pathetic as it's shown here. Anyway, UnREAL wasn't bad enough for me to cry over the wasted time, and Quinn was great the whole time. 4*- (30.11.2019)

The pilot episode of the first season pleasantly surprised me, even though I was just getting familiar with the story and characters. There was always something happening, so I definitely wasn't bored. The creators of the reality show had to get rid of all scruples for the sake of viewership/profit, so in the end, I got a very nice handbook for both beginning and advanced manipulators. The second part was somewhat weaker compared to the first episode, and furthermore, after it ended, I had a feeling that I actually didn't learn anything new and that there was no significant development in the story. I admit that I enjoy all those manipulative practices, I just fear that the series will rely solely on them. (29.11.2019)

After the third episode, I feel like I didn't make too many mistakes in my previous comment. The manipulation tactics that the series uses no longer affect me as they did the first time, so the story loses a bit of its punch for me. I added a small, insignificant plus for the side storylines, which were slightly more interesting this time. 3*+ (29.11.2019)

Similar to the previous case, what I enjoyed the most about the fourth episode were the plotlines that did not directly concern the actual filming. However, this time I did enjoy them a bit more, so I could push the rating a bit higher. The deterioration of relationships between Quinn and Chet, but mainly Adam's efforts to sell the vineyard, were quite substantial. (29.11.2019)

The fifth episode did not deviate from the established standard and was both interesting and entertaining, so I could rate it with four stars. However, I added a fifth piece because the creators of the series reinforced my belief that while Muslims are stuck somewhere in the Middle Ages with their opinions and laws, Christians haven't progressed beyond the Victorian era. Living in a theocracy must be dreadful. (29.11.2019)

I slightly overrated the previous episode due to a reason I explained in the comment, this time I didn't have to add anything because I really enjoyed the episode. There were so many misdeeds and interesting twists here that there was no room for boredom, and the ending was beautifully dramatic. (29.11.2019)

This was a typical night/day after and I basically got what I expected from the creators of the show, but in the end I had to reconsider my pre-prepared four stars. I understand that the United States is a country of limitless possibilities, but the fact that nobody properly investigated the death of a participant from a TV show already seemed very UnREAL to me. And the "found" farewell letter completely ruined it (wouldn't the police be interested in that?). 3* (30.11.2019)

The eighth episode didn't exactly fill me with enthusiasm. The plot did focus more on the creators of the show rather than the show itself, but the whole thing slipped into such a typical "he loves me, he loves me not" affair, this time aimed at five or more characters, so despite a few bright moments, I wasn't very satisfied. My comment on the previous episode could be successfully used for this episode as well, because its plot developed in a similar way. However, the outcome was slightly better for me, as I thoroughly enjoyed Quinn, who is becoming my favorite character in this series. 3*+ (30.11.2019)

Unlike some of the previous episodes, the finale of the first season pleased and amused me overall. The story, which seemed to be definitively stuck in a soap opera-like relationship carousel, finally moved forward, allowing me to enjoy plenty of intrigues and manipulations once again. (30.11.2019)
