The Musketeers on Alexandre Dumas'n klassikkoromaaniin pohjautuva toiminnantäyteinen ja vaikuttava draamasarja. (SF Film Fin.)

englanti I did not reserve a few hours for these Three Musketeers until I’ve read an article in the Pevnost magazine. What can I tellyou, what grabbed my attention was the fact that this whole series was shot in our country. Or to be more precise, I was positively elated by this fact. I told myself that there was finally someone who wanted to make full use of the history of our country in some period story. Although it’s supposed to bea completely different place in this series, I saw Czech vibes in everything. In the forests, streams, castles, ruins, or even chateaux. The sets are simply a number one underlined five times. What’s worse is the take on the story. The first few episodes were about getting used to it and I didn’t even want to continue watching, but after about three episodes I accepted the carefree atmosphere and I started to enjoy it quite a bit. The problem is that this series does not take itself seriously at all. You don’t really believe anything you see. The Musketeers with d’Artagnan are quite charismatic, but I feel as if everything was turned upside down. As an example, I would like to describe the scene of musketeers catching one of the merchant crooks. He escapes them with the help of his sweetheart in a few seconds, they catch him in a way that makes it clear they suspected that he would run away, but meanwhile his lover dies in the fight. He looks at her, saddened, sheds a tear, and in a few seconds, he is in another scene all cheerful as if nothing had actually happened. Likewise, the Musketeers are pretty chill. And this sums up the whole series. It’s wannabe funny and positive, which means that when a member of militia or twois stabbed to death during defending his own home, it doesn’t matter at all because it was filmed in a very stylish way. Well, by the way, it is really well filmed. The sword fights are perfect and together with the locations, they are the main reasons why I finished the first season to the end. I don’t know whether I’ll give the next one a go. It’s definitely a completely different take on Alexandre Dumas than one could imagine. We’ll know whether it’s good or not only when we see how many seasons are filmed and if they all succeed. I would like them to, for filming this in our country. ()
