Hens, Virus and Us (S06E06)

“Chicken experiment, day one.” Filip Remunda’s children are spending the COVID holidays at a chalet, where they learn the harsh truth about the egg industry. What differentiates a chicken from a dog? Why is it uncomfortable to see one in crowded cages, but not the other? The topic arises during the national quarantine at the Remundas’. So begins their private project—a camera in baby Boris’ hands, a few adopted hens, and a new coop. The matters of living conditions, ethics, and legislation of breeding animals, which could notably change the Czech food industry in the following years, are looked at through a child’s eyes in this atypical Czech Journal series documentary.
