An honest drama that courageously fights against a moralizing subtext and, thanks to the amazing Alain Delon, it left a deep impression on me. The fire in Pierre's eyes when he's trying to get anything or anyone, his unstoppable determination – these are aspects that do not easily fade from memory. The emphasis on versatile humanity and unpredictability is something that French dramas of the past generation can deliver on demand.
