An honest drama that courageously fights against a moralizing subtext and, thanks to the amazing Delon, leaves a deep impression on me. Pierr's fire in his eyes when he tries to gain anything or anyone, or his unstoppable determination - these are aspects that will not easily fade from memory. The emphasis on versatile humanity and unpredictability is something that French dramas of the past generation can deliver on demand.
