Vikings seuraa aikansa suurimman sankarin, Ragnar Lothbrokin, seikkailuja. (SF Film Fin.)

Viikingit (2013)

englanti The theme of Viking raids is interesting to me. I don't know much about them beyond the basics and the series made me do some digging to get some context. The writers created the right mixture of intrigue, fighting, and insights into the off-season activities of the Norsemen to keep me hooked. Interestingly, the Viking who stands out the most for me in the series is the 168cm tall Lagertha. Until the end of the third season, I was fully satisfied, but the fourth season was a bit disappointing due to the constant visions and hallucinations that needlessly fragmented the plot. I can only hope that the fifth season will bring it up to 5 stars again. ()

Season 1 (2013) (S01)

englanti The first season was a delight. A great mixture of intrigue, raw carnage, and a very interesting cast, without unnecessary tear-jerking scenes. I was totally satisfied. ()

Siirtymäriitti (2013) (S01E01)

englanti A solid introduction to the story and characters. I was never bored; there was always something happening. It’s clear that Lagertha is going to be the center of attention for all the Norsemen around. And honestly, I can’t blame them — Katheryn Winnick is stunning. ()

Pohjanmiesten viha (2013) (S01E02)

englanti Just as enjoyable as the first episode. There was always something happening — from the crew recruitment to the journey west. The action scenes in Northumbria were well done, and the raid and burning of the monastery warmed my pagan heart. ()

Riistetty (2013) (S01E03)

englanti The creators definitely score points with one of my favorite themes, and I’m continually amazed by the trials the Boss puts his loyal followers through. It's incredibly entertaining. Amen. ()

Oikeudenkäynti (2013) (S01E04)

englanti The capture of the town was hilarious — despite knowing the Norsemen were coming, the townsfolk responded to the bells like Pavlov's dogs. The intrigue and scheming back in Kattegat were right up my alley, and the action scenes were solid as always. ()

Hyökkäys (2013) (S01E05)

englanti This episode delivered the most action-packed scenes so far, and they were impressively executed. The happenings in Kattegat were equally engaging, filled with intrigue that made up for the lack of action there. On the downside, the perfectly timed lake meeting between Ragnar and his family in the drifting boat was a bit too convenient. And while Jarl Haraldson is a valuable character, Gabriel Byrne comes off as somewhat tired. ()

Hautajaiset (2013) (S01E06)

englanti Another well-crafted episode. Vikings continues to keep me entertained, even during the quieter moments, which is a good sign. It was fascinating to see how much change was triggered by the outcome of a single duel. And the award for the most surprised character goes to Jarl Bjarni!:-) ()

Kuninkaan lunnaat (2013) (S01E07)

englanti I have a few reservations, but I'm setting them aside because the episode delivered a solid dose of quality action. Once again, God abandoned His flock, as usual, and I learned a valuable lesson: when it comes to a fight, it's better to battle than to pray. ()

Uhrilahja (2013) (S01E08)

englanti This episode is exactly why I love Vikings. If it were just about the action, I’d be struggling to give it two stars. But this show isn’t one-dimensional. The eighth episode felt like a Norse Woodstock, complete with everything you'd expect, and even threw in some butcher shop vibes. Given my disdain for all religions, I appreciated this kind of enlightening. ()

Muutos (2013) (S01E09)

englanti The dullest episode so far, and the first one that actually bored me. It wasn’t all bad, with some scheming and clear setup for the second season, but the endless wandering through the forest with Queen Kolby could have been shortened or cut entirely. ()

Season 2 (2014) (S02)

englanti What joy and happiness have befallen me! I liked the first season very much and worried that the second one would not reach the same quality. And I wasn’t wrong, it was even better! A well-blended mixture of intrigue and action. Keep them coming! ()

Veljessota (2014) (S02E01)

englanti Season two started off great with an armed clash and a rift between brothers. I was ready to give the episode five stars. But then, the show slipped into melodrama during the monologue to the dead daughter, and the annoying family scene was the final straw. Despite these gripes, I couldn’t bring myself to give it a lower rating. ()

Lähtö (2014) (S02E02)

englanti The family drama was replaced with new intrigues that clearly set the stage for another armed clash, which I appreciated. Plus, Ragnar embarked on another sightseeing tour of England's beauties and landmarks, making me excited for the upcoming episodes. 5* ()

Kosto (2014) (S02E03)

englanti The episode was definitely action-packed. The raid on Winchester was intense, and it even included an archery scene, which I always appreciate. While Borg's move in Kattegat was predictable, it was handled very well. I had a blast. ()

Vallanvaihto (2014) (S02E04)

englanti Yep, give a Catholic some wood, nails, a hammer, and a heretic, and you can predict the outcome:-) Aside from this typical display of Christian love, what really caught my interest was the negotiation between King Ecbert and Ragnar. I have high hopes for Ecbert — he’s bound to be a master schemer. ()

Kattegatin vapautus (2014) (S02E05)

englanti One of the more action-packed episodes. After many reunions, there was some sabotage and then a full-on battle. The creators really excel at action scenes, and even the non-action scenes kept me engaged and entertained throughout. ()

Liiton uudistus (2014) (S02E06)

englanti I have mixed feelings about this episode. I was really excited about it — the atmosphere was great, the plot was intense, with plenty of intrigue and planning. I was all set to give it five stars, but... I had to dock one star for one reason: Athelstan really got on my nerves this time and spoiled my overall impression. ()

Verikotka (2014) (S02E07)

englanti The episode felt like it was split into two distinct parts. The first part was filled with political maneuvering, intrigue, and a slightly paranoid atmosphere where you couldn't tell who to trust — definitely my kind of thing. The second part focused on Jarl Borg’s fate. While I could have handled a few more intense scenes, it still didn’t disappoint. Since Lagertha has been my favorite character from the start, I had to give this episode a full five stars. ()

Ivar Luuton (2014) (S02E08)

englanti It felt like the creators were just stretching the plot. Nothing significant happened, except for Horik's move at the end. I have to agree with 0verseer — the only highlight was Princess Kwenthrith. ()
