Alex Andero, a testosterone-driven dreamer who works in his family owned Greenwich Village cafÃ©, dreams about making it big as a Hollywood screenwriter. Alex gets his big break when he gets a chance to pitch a story to a big movie producer. Alex who never even has written one script and determined not to spend the rest of his life as a dishwasher, finds his solution in Elliott Springer, a talented, gay, Jewish writer. Elliott, although completely opposed to the idea or collaborating on a script he considers to be nothing more than fluff. Elliott finally agrees to participate only after Alex promises to help him get a date with Joey (Kerr Smith, "Dawson s Creek"), the cute struggling actor who works with Alex at the cafÃ©. Their relationship is fraught with complications as they forge an unlikely working partnership.
