The boy happened to be born in a Jewish family. It happened in Germany. Someone called Hitler seized power. Can his only precious life depend on such circumstances? Or the life of his father, a fussy patriarch, or that of his uncle and his half-crazy wife? They are much more real than Hitler. Thus David without a hint of understanding and a smile on his face finds himself in the midst of the final settlement of the Jewish question.
