Moderni perhe (2009)

englanti Modern Family falls into that category of TV shows where young actors grow up on screen and, once the filming wraps up, they exit as fully-fledged adults. I'll readily admit that I've grown quite attached to this show, and despite a few rough patches over the eleven seasons, the good moments clearly outweigh the bad. If I had to pick my top three characters, it would undoubtedly be Phil, Claire, and Gloria, with the Dunphys, in particular, being my constant favorites (I'll never forget Phil's slingshot ride). In a nutshell, it provided straightforward entertainment that often had me bursting into laughter. It lost its charm when the creators attempted to delve too deeply into serious themes. / Lesson learned: Holidays were the best :-) ()

Season 1 (2009) (S01)

englanti Season 1 was a real treat. The fact that the creators didn't use canned laughter is one of the reasons why I got hooked right from the start. Another was the cast and well-written characters. I was especially pleased with Ed O'Neill as Jay. I was afraid he would just be another version of Al Bunda, but it was definitely not the case. Unlike Al, Jay takes it in stride and aptly comments on what’s happening around him. The first season offers great fun, the creators managed to avoid slipping into lame humor, and I'm looking forward to the next one. ()

Pilot (2009) (S01E01)

englanti I had been postponing watching the series for a very long time, but I was convinced to give it a try by the ratings of KM Phoenix and bubun, and now I'm glad that I finally got to it. The first episode pleasantly surprised me by not incorporating annoying laughter that usually alerts the viewer to a funny moment. The only letdown was the traditional quota tribute, but overall, I had a great time. The creators didn't push humor too hard, and I could be satisfied.// "I'm a cool dad. I surf the internet, use abbreviations like: LOL - loud laughter, OMG - oh my God, WTF - what the heck." ()

The Bicycle Thief (2009) (S01E02)

englanti Although the children's circle in my eyes didn't benefit from the second episode too much, I eventually gave it four stars because the new round with everything that was piled onto it was great. // "We would do such things more often if it wasn't for... well, you know, Manny." "But we're glad, it keeps us grounded." "Yeah, it's like fog at the airport." ()

Come Fly with Me (2009) (S01E03)

englanti Even the third episode didn't disappoint me at all, and that's good, because I've seen a lot of stupid sitcoms, and I don't long for another one. The creators here are doing a great job with humor so far, so the whole thing really works for me. // "How serious is it?" "Well, the propeller is bent, and the wing is broken." ()

The Incident (2009) (S01E04)

englanti So that was Brutus. The fourth episode amused me to the core, the involvement of the mother/ex-wife was really well done by the creators. I appreciated that the resolution of the "Incident" and the subsequent new twist didn't slip into "sloppiness", the humor remained consistent and Dylan's final hit blew me away. // "I picked it up from my dad, who used to come into my room saying: "How are you, you little bitch?" ()

Coal Digger (2009) (S01E05)

englanti "I have to admit that this time the Czech translation did not disappoint me either, the mudslinger turned out well, family disputes entertain me more and more, and even such a giant as Jára Cimrman would probably have trouble with the Jay family's relationships. Maybe not even his Vítr z hor could handle that. // "She is my daughter, you are my wife. Let's not forget what is more important. Football in the afternoon." ()

Run for Your Wife (2009) (S01E06)

englanti I really enjoyed the sixth episode, the creators continue to come up with the type of humor that works well for me. I'm not really interested in the storyline of Mitchell, Cameron, and Lily, but Jay's Colombia and the controlled chaos with Claire and Phil more than make up for it. // "Seriously, I wake up at six." "Is that you? I thought it was a raccoon." ()

En Garde (2009) (S01E07)

englanti I'm a little annoyed when some episodes end with unnecessary moralizing, but the fencing finale was perfect. I laughed from the moment the nurse started talking about the difficult fate, and the arrival of the wheelchair users crushed me. It was absolutely hellish. Similar scenes could occur more often. // "Why do you have an iPod in your mouth?" "I'm charging it." "Alex!!!" ()

Great Expectations (2009) (S01E08)

englanti The eighth episode got to me mainly thanks to the quality guest appearance. Elizabeth Banks made it so that I enjoyed the scenes with Mitchell and Cameron for the first time, Jay's pyjama party was great (mainly thanks to Manny), but the best came with Claire's anniversary gift. I really teared up and it wasn't just emotion. // "Alright then, show me your Yoko." ()

Fizbo (2009) (S01E09)

englanti Luke's birthday party dominated the entire ninth episode, and I have to admit it wasn't bad at all. I realized a long time ago that clowns don't always have to be funny and friendly when I read King's "It" for the first time. In addition, when I first saw Fizbo, I remembered John Wayne Gacy, so I understood Phil, but unlike him, I had a good time. "I'm brave, I love roller coasters. I've seen Ghostbusters about seven times, I often drive through neighborhoods where the poor were evicted, so yeah, you won't scare me that easily." ()

Undeck the Halls (2009) (S01E10)

englanti Whenever Phil has the opportunity to showcase his educational methods in practice, I tremble with delight. The creators approached the Christmas holidays in a somewhat unconventional way, each time I was afraid of emotional outbursts, something came along that wonderfully ruined the threatening atmosphere, and I had to appreciate that. // "Don't be afraid of anything, Christmas will happen, we raised them well, whoever did it will confess, or the other two will crack him." ()

Up All Night (2010) (S01E11)

englanti In the eleventh episode, I was entertained, but it certainly wasn't the best that the creators have presented to me so far. Even the gardener couldn't bring to life the scenes with Mitchell and Cameron, and the arrival of Manny's biological father felt too clichéd, I have simply seen this several times already. Fortunately, the arrival of the firefighters saved everything. // "You didn't take him with you, did you?!" "You can't sleep at school?" 4* ()

Not in My House (2010) (S01E12)

englanti The unusual problem in Jay's household, with everything that was piled up on him, amused me incredibly, but I also had a great time with the situations in the Dunphy's house; once again, I was interested in what Americans consider pornography, and Phil's heroic approach filled me with enthusiasm. // "Alright, but I'll tell him that every time he watches porn, God kills a puppy." ()

Fifteen Percent (2010) (S01E13)

englanti It happened for the second time that I enjoyed the storyline with Mitchell and Cameron. The fact that Chazz Palminteri appeared in the role of Shorty greatly contributed to it, as I have been a fan of his for many years. As for guest appearances, the show's creators have been really lucky so far. "In my opinion, Phil only installs all those complicated devices just to be able to talk to me like a little kid." "In my country, we have a proverb that says: 'Love waits right around the corner.' I come from a place where there are plenty of prostitutes." ()

Moon Landing (2010) (S01E14)

englanti So it's quite clear now, the first season is on track for very good results for me, its humor really won me over and the fourteenth episode only confirmed that. The Dunphys really went all out again, thanks to Phil I found out what Jägermeister actually is and Manny was brilliant again. // "Look, I know your mom well, she's fine, I would bet my shoes that she's just calming down with a long walk in the park." ()

My Funky Valentine (2010) (S01E15)

englanti Great episode. Thanks especially to the Dunphys, I was almost in tears from laughter. The creators proved to me that their non-sentimental approach to Christmas was not just a coincidence and they also amused me with their annoyingly fragrant and chocolatey sweet Valentine’s Day. Besides Phil and Claire, the romantic poet Manny also stood out, I don't particularly like the child characters, but in this series, I mostly enjoy all of them. // "Dylan, that's sweet." "All women should look like you in old age." ()

Fears (2010) (S01E16)

englanti "Special, I was very worried about the Valentine's episode, but it turned out great. I was looking forward to the episode about fear and I am a bit disappointed by it. Those two hysterics didn't entertain me twice again, but neither was the story very convincing this time, so the rating was saved by the driving school and Phil's educational methods. 4 stars. // "Now turn left." "Here?" "At the intersection." ()

Truth Be Told (2010) (S01E17)

englanti Similar to the previous episode, the seventeenth episode didn't completely impress me either. The events with the Dunphy family didn't amuse me as much as I'm used to, and Mitchell and Cameron were once again the weakest link for me, so everything relied on Jay and his efforts to avoid suspicion of murder. 4 stars. // "You're a liar, I'm Colombian, I can recognize a staged crime scene when I see one." ()

Starry Night (2010) (S01E18)

englanti The eighteenth episode brought a slight improvement compared to previous episodes and surprisingly, Cameron and his Colombian missteps took care of it. Once again, the members of the Dunphy family provided me with entertainment, thanks to this episode I have no doubt that Luke is truly Phil's son. ()
