Ylitarkastaja Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) elää onnellisesti siinä uskossa, että Clouseau (Peter Sellers) on salamurhattu mahtavan huumeparoni Philippe Douvierin (Robert Webber) toimesta. Todellisuudessa Clouseau on mitä parhaimmassa vedossa, ja täydessä touhussa Douvierin jäljillä! Hillittömin valepuvuin ja ällistyttävin aksentein aseistautunut Clouseau matkustaa Hong Kongiin keskeyttämään ison huumekaupan Caton (Burt Kwouk) ja huumeparonin petetyn rakastajattaren (Dyan Cannon) avustuksella. Ainoa ongelma on, että Dreyfus on samoilla jäljillä! (SF Film Fin.)

englanti It’s simply not what it used to be. You can feel that the director was trying to force it too much. The thing is that whenever inspector Clouseau is not on the stage with Cato, it’s pretty much about nothing and surprisingly it is unnecessarily serious. Seriousness can actually be felt already at the beginning of the movie. But once the inspector arrives, the seriousness fades away and the usual fun starts again. Unfortunately, there aren’t as many scenes of those two together as I would have liked. ()

englanti I experienced the premiere of this film as a boy and I perceived it completely differently than I do today. Just like many other phenomena, I have to reassess this film series because although it once entertained me, the humor has aged, some of the gags and situations now feel awkward, and even though there are some functional jokes, they are in the minority. Sellers indeed performs with his characteristic enthusiasm in this grotesque, but his humor is too childish and I don't care for it now, and the same applies to the overacting Herbert Lom. Overall impression: 45%. ()

englanti This just isn't it anymore. I didn’t enjoy this movie as much this time, and from what I remember, it didn't entertain me that much in the past when I first saw it on television. Sure, there are some good scenes, but it's getting a little stale and a little too far-fetched for me. It’s still good, though. ()

englanti I don't think that the bar for humor in Revenge of the Pink Panther has gone down significantly, quite the opposite. This film seems to me even better than the third installment The Return. Everything important is in place, and Clouseau uses the disguises I love him most in here (especially as the Chinese man and the plump Godfather are not to be missed) and we get to meet their maker, the once Superintendent Dreyfus gives a sensational eulogy, Cato destroys more in Hong Kong than the inspector himself, Dyan Cannon's charm cannot be overlooked, and Henry Mancini heard during the finale. It’s too bad that this Panther is the last one Sellers lived to see. Blake Edwards could have forgiven himself the subsequent money grab. ()

englanti The tempo has already calmed down a bit, yet this is the last film that Sellers finished, which as a fan means a lot to me. That's why the fourth star is for nostalgia, another unforgettable duel with Clouseau and poor mistreated Dreyfus, whom you sometimes pity. One of the most classic series in the world of comedy could have ended on a high note, unfortunately it didn't work out. ()
