englanti At the age of 10, Magda Sonja was one of the most famous stars around. A series of her short films were among the certainties among the meager offerings during World War I. Magda was one of the first protagonists to represent the most popular themes of world drama in cinema. From today's point of view, it is problematic to approach the final project When the Strings Wailed as a complete work. The film has not survived in its entirety, and it is only possible to see an inexpertly restored version from 1953, which is not very inventive. What is missing today, apart from the whole film, is a reflection on the way the crisis was viewed at the time, which was not a trivial matter. At present, there is also no basic idea about who the joy girl actually was and what social connections it had not only for the lady. And of course, few would look for inspiration from Tolstoy's "The Devil." Personally, I appreciate the world's contribution to Czech cinema, which unfortunately time has taken away. ()
