This compilation film looks at the history of cinema through the ever-changing relationship to reality. Using more than 50 films as examples, it shows the various forms this relationship has taken and the way they have been reflected in film. In its ordering of film clips, commentary, and division into chapters, Film and Reality goes in search of contexts, evolution, and values. It explores the level of reality in fiction films, shows the role of the directory in non-acted movies, and captivates the viewer with tools of expression and formal approaches.
