Lipstick Jungle, another hit novel by Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell, is headed for the small screen. While Sex and the City followed the exploits of four single women looking for love in New York, Lipstick Jungle tracks three powerful career women who are willing to do almost anything for success in the business world: Wendy Healy (Brooke Shields), president of Parador Pictures, Victory Ford (Lindsay Price), a high profile fashion designer, and Nico Reilly (Kim Raver), editor-in-chief of a hot selling fashion magazine named Bonfire Magazine.
The series is produced by Universal Media Studios.

Lipstick Jungle (2008)
It's an ideal alternative for someone who isn't so fond of Sex and the City and would like the protagonists to be more mature and, in a way, more real. It's a perfect combination of modern times and classic melodrama. Civil acting, seriality and episodicity. Big romances and serious careers - you'll find it all here. And yes, the book has its good points too. My compliments.

Season 1 (2008) (S01)
The trio of unlikely heroines played by Brooke Shields, Kim Raver, and Lindsay Price, live their lives somewhat differently than the gang around Carrie. But is it really that different? One is going through artificial insemination, one is a fashion designer and another has older children. So, yes, the potential to reach the Sex and the City audience would be great, because again, these women are mature and have taste and they are very dedicated to themselves. Some are romantic, others hide their feelings. But overall the Lipstick Jungle is not that aggressive. Ledy makes no secret of it: we're not on HBO. Still, there's time for attractive film production issues, fashion collections and playing with Mr. Divine (Andrew McCarthy this time), and relationships with bunnies. The first series was quick, so there had to be one more to get the real verdict.

Season 2 (2008) (S02)
Everything that there wasn't time for in the opening short season is happily developed here. The relationship with the local Mr. Divine is neither sweetly linear nor modernly illegible, it's just... realistic. Therefore, this relationship is not easy to fulfill for either party. I would have appreciated at least one more return to the new stories by Candace Bushnell, but the era of the legendary writers' strike didn't favor that. The first season, therefore, didn't even have the expected 13 episodes, and the competing series Cashmere Mafia was canceled after the first season, so it's actually a miracle the story concluded in just 20 episodes. The idea of filming a third season was finally scrapped after Lindsay Price joined Eastwick.
