Dexter pohjautuu floridalaisen kirjailijan Jeff Lindsayn vangitsevaan romaaniin Dexterin pimeät unet. Dexter (2006)

englanti The series has definitely become one of my favorites, although it’s true that I missed the old Dexter in the last two seasons - a cynical and emotionally empty narrator. It was his sense of humor, so dry that you shouldn’t use open fire in the vicinity, which perfectly complemented the great suspense and action. The amazing atmosphere was supported by an excellent score. Although I’m not a huge fan of this music genre, it fit here perfectly. ()

Season 1 (2006) (S01)

englanti The first season of this series completely absorbed me. Chilling moments alternated with perfectly cynical humor. I have an open relationship with the dark side of human nature, so I didn’t have a major issue with Dexter's character. Rita is a whole other story. ()

Dexter (2006) (S01E01)

englanti After a long time, I decided to rewatch Dexter. Pilot episodes of TV shows are often like the first round of a boxing match — you're just getting to know the characters, cautiously exploring the territory. But with Dexter, it's a whole different ball game. The plot kicked off smoothly right from the get-go, keeping boredom at bay. And let's talk about that atmosphere — it was spot-on, enhanced perfectly by am awesome soundtrack. ()

Krokotiili (2006) (S01E02)

englanti While the previous episode was definitely more impressive, I still found a lot to enjoy. There weren't any major plot issues that soured my impression. ()

Popping Cherry (2006) (S01E03)

englanti This episode didn't quite thrill me as much as I'd hoped. I found myself enjoying the flashbacks of Dexter's beginnings more, which is why the pilot episode is still my favorite. But what really gave it some extra oomph were Dexter's life observations and dry comments. ()

Verisiä muistoja (2006) (S01E04)

englanti Despite some reservations I have about the plot, I'm still giving it a solid five stars. The way the creators seamlessly blended the often dark atmosphere, perfectly chosen soundtrack, and flawlessly executed humor (seriously, some comedy writers could learn a thing or two from this series) was just brilliant. Plus, I remembered which character used to grate on my nerves the most back in the day. ()

Love American Style (2006) (S01E05)

englanti It felt like a bit of a departure from the usual formula for me, zeroing in on two supporting characters, Tucci and Castilla. Surprisingly, I still had a blast — maybe even because of that. Plus, it was great to see Vincent Masuka get more screen time for once. ()

Return to Sender (2006) (S01E06)

englanti The story seemed to kick up a notch for me. Dexter had been mostly managing his urges (or lack thereof) until now, but the return of two characters, Paul and Valerie, was enough to stir up some understandable paranoia and emotional turmoil. It's fascinating to watch an ordinary sociopath lose himself in these matters. And of course, the specific humor that I love so much was still there, so it's definitely five stars from me. ()

Ystävien kesken (2006) (S01E07)

englanti The episode felt pretty similar to the last one for me, except this time around, they dialed back on Dexter and shifted the focus back to Rita's situation. Still, I found myself really digging the politics over at the precinct. Yeah, maybe the element of surprise was a bit lacking, but it didn't seem to bother me. ()

Shrink Wrap (2006) (S01E08)

englanti With each new episode, all the plotlines just keep getting better and better for me. The creators clearly had a solid plan in mind and didn't just wing it along the way, as it happens all too often. I was equally pleased by the therapy sessions and another dose of Dexter's dry wit. ()

Kyllä isä tietää (2006) (S01E09)

englanti Even though I've already watched the series once, I'm still loving every minute of uncovering the past, especially Rudy's intricate plan. Dexter never fails to deliver a good time, and it feels like I'm exactly the kind of viewer the series was made for. ()

Seeing Red (2006) (S01E10)

englanti This season is really kicking it up a notch, and it's such a breath of fresh air compared to other shows out there. Even the storyline with Rita's struggles is hitting the mark for me, which is surprising considering she's not exactly a character I'm usually fond of. ()

Truth Be Told (2006) (S01E11)

englanti The episode was solid overall, but there was one moment that really got under my skin — Rita's speech to Paul in jail. It bugged me quite a bit, but thankfully, everything else was great, so I was able to brush off that blip pretty quickly. The chess match between LaGuerta and Matthews is heating up nicely, and I'm totally here for it. ()

Vapaana syntynyt (2006) (S01E12)

englanti The season finale was everything I hoped for and more. It brought the tension, the top-notch atmosphere, and a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat. While there was a bit less of the cynical humor I love, Dexter's standout performance in the final scene totally made up for it. I walked away completely satisfied. ()

Season 2 (2007) (S02)

englanti Even the second season failed to disappoint me. Yet again, the main storyline revolved around the search for a serial killer, affecting Dexter's life even more than the last time. Again, I have to highlight the well-written script, which did not force the creators to improvise unnecessarily, and even though they didn’t manage to avoid a few minor and major goofs, the season made a great impression on me as a whole. ()

Ruosteessa (2007) (S02E01)

englanti The start of the second season was a blast. The first season introduced a sociopath trying to fit into everyday life while pursuing his deadly passion, and then they threw a wrench into his killing spree — it was exhilarating to watch the panic unfold. ()

Hyvästit (2007) (S02E02)

englanti The plot of the second episode kept me engaged enough, but I had to knock off a star thanks to Rita who really soured the whole experience for me. Her sudden acquisition of Sherlock Holmes-level deduction skills — spotting Dexter's heroin addiction — was a painfully dumb moment. ()

Valheita ja viettelyksiä (2007) (S02E03)

englanti In terms of Dexter, the plot felt a tad weaker this time around. But the storyline with Agent Frank Lundy's investigation into the Bay Harbor Butcher has started to gain traction, and I appreciated the slow burn of the sergeant's career progression. ()

Kuumat paikat (2007) (S02E04)

englanti As I watched the fourth episode, I found myself chuckling happily throughout, fully intending to give it a solid five-star rating. Dexter's comments were spot-on, adding the perfect touch of humor to balance out the serious stuff. But then came Lili's little adventure, and that star rating took a hit. ()

Synkkä puolustaja (2007) (S02E05)

englanti The plot wasn't half bad, but it did lose a bit of steam with all the focus on relationships and the past. Still, it kept me entertained throughout. I just wish there had been a bit more action and tension to really make it shine. ()
