(Paramount Home Ent. Fin.)

Ei, ei ja vielä kerran ei (2008) (S03E13)

englanti Straight up, gotta say I'm not a fan of Britney Spears, and the moment I saw her, I was gearing up to throw some shade her way. But she was so convincing in the role of a girl whose eyes light up every time you shine a flashlight in her ear. When it comes to Ted's relationships, he turns into this incredibly annoying character. This time, he damn near ruined it for me. / Lesson learned: Sometimes, it's just better to take the path of least resistance. 4*- ()

Pudotuspelit (2008) (S03E14)

englanti The episode had its flaws, but I'd be lying if I said I was bored. How can you not have a blast when Barney Stinson takes the spotlight? The creators threw a new life curveball at him, and watching him define, analyze, and try to tackle this unusual situation was great fun. Still, there were two factors that kind of dampened the overall vibe for me. / Lesson learned: Stick close to the prey. ()

Huutoketju (2008) (S03E15)

englanti The episode was a bit weak. The plot stayed kinda average throughout, and I did get a kick out of Lily's absent-mindedness. All the variations on the conversation with Arthur were great, and hanging out in Ted's new car was pretty good too. But then, the flood of moralizing at the end just threw everything off. Sure, who cares about money when love is all you need? I get it, ideals are cool and all, but when reality hits and you're seriously ill, finding out the insurance doesn't cover all your needs, well, that's a different story. / Lesson learned: Ideals are great, but life comes with a price tag. ()

Menneisyyden hiekkalinnat (2008) (S03E16)

englanti I had a good time despite a few hiccups here and there. Still, compared to the last episode, the writing took a big step up. Instead of the annoying moralizing, we got some decent humor this time. The plot was amusing, and James van der Beek killed it; plus, the ending was great. / Lesson learned: Don't lose your sense of judgment. ()

Vuohi (2008) (S03E17)

englanti Much like the last episode, this one had its shaky moments, but it didn't bug me as much. Big props to the Barney/Marshall duo and their seriously epic shredder; that part saved it for me. My main gripe is that, given my nature and mindset, there are just some rules I can't wrap my head around. / Lesson learned: Humanity's gonna go extinct thanks to stupidity. ()

Kuivan kauden kohtalo (2008) (S03E18)

englanti Even though Barney was great again and Lily straddled that earthquake, the episode didn't exactly blow my socks off. It mostly dealt with thinigs that didn't interest me, and people were behaving in a way that I don't understand. Honestly, I can't imagine having a chat with someone about how often and in what way I do it with my girlfriend and how much I enjoy it. Or, in Ted's case, don't enjoy it. / Lesson learned: Don't overshare. ()

Kaikki pois (2008) (S03E19)

englanti It felt like the creators hit a creativity roadblock as they neared the end of the third season, and out popped this bizarre spectacle. It didn't exactly annoy me, but it left me yawning. / Lesson learned: Becoming a great artist usually happens posthumously. ()

Ihme! (2008) (S03E20)

englanti The wrap-up for the third season wasn't exactly the grand finale I'd hoped for; it felt more like plastic than a top-notch cork. The miracles had their moments of funny, got a good laugh there. Barney only kind of kept me entertained. However, the bulk of the plot was your usual romantic mess, aiming for emotional and tear-jerking, which isn't exactly what I'm after in a sitcom. / Lesson learned: Always double-check both ways before crossing the street. ()

Season 4 (2008) (S04)

englanti In my review of Season 3, I joked about the gradually decreasing number of stars per season, not knowing that it would become a bitter reality. I don’t think Season 4 was any good, it was actually pretty bad. I was only entertained by seven out of twenty-four episodes. While the show failed to entertain me, it did manage to make me totally loathe one of the characters and reinforced my long-held opinion that I think of friendship in a completely different way than the majority of the population including the creators of this "sitcom". / Lesson learned: If you don't have enough "friends," who will manage your life? ()

Äärimmäinen testi (2008) (S04E01)

englanti The kick-off to the fourth season didn't exactly blow me away. It was mostly focused on relationships, and I found myself struggling to figure out why I should bother watching something like this. I used to think sitcoms stood for situational comedy, but humor was in short supply here. / Lesson learned: If you're breaking up with someone, make sure you word it the right way. ()

Parhaan perässä (2008) (S04E02)

englanti This episode wasn't about relationships, which you'd think would be a win. But nope, the problem was that it was basically about nothing. The storyline, if there even was one, didn't grab me at all. I get that food can be better in some places, but if you want to go on some restaurant scavenger hunt, count me out. / Lesson learned: If you discover a great restaurant, just write down the address and stop bothering everyone. ()

Junan tuomat (2008) (S04E03)

englanti I'm at a loss here — either I'm just not feeling the series anymore, or the first three episodes of this season were genuinely that poor. Might be a bit of both. All I know is, the third episode didn't do it for me either. The plot was meh, and even Barney, usually my favorite, didn't bring his A-game. When the runtime of an episode feels twice as long, it's not a good sign, which is exactly what happened in this case. / Lesson learned: Keep an eye on that expiration date. ()

Rimakauhua ja raihnautta (2008) (S04E04)

englanti Throughout my life, and even now, I've had trust issues, so I've kept my friend circle pretty small (the highest count was three). But hey, these folks have been on the same wavelength as me, so there's no risk of dealing with the same nonsense as the characters in this episode. Also, the whole moving situation felt stuck in a loop, and Ted seemed like he just needed a daisy to make up his mind. Once again, our hero Barney Stinson came to save the day. / Lesson learned: Don't become a pathetic idiot. ()

Exät häissä (2008) (S04E05)

englanti I was stressing that the episode would dive back into the relationship drama, but surprise, it threw a wedding into the mix too. Isn't that fantastic? The dialogue was so cringe-worthy script that listening to it was another round of agony, and once again, only Barney brought some joy. His inner struggle was the only spark in this sea of dullness. / Lesson learned: Thinking about getting married? As you wish... ()

Pöydän alle (2008) (S04E06)

englanti Surprisingly, I kind of enjoyed this episode. Barney was doing his classic thing, and there were some throwback moments that had me cracking up. But you know how it goes, every coin's got two sides, and in this case, it was Ted as usual. I'm torn between thinking I'm just a cynical jerk or if the writing is genuinely that lame, irritating, and dull. / Lesson learned: Always pick the right table. ()

Ihana pikku sukka (2008) (S04E07)

englanti The third season has been all about relationships, then weddings, and now about children. I'm on the fence about sticking around for more episodes; I love a good laugh, but the seventh episode kept up the trend of sidelining humor for deep, philosophical musings on relationships and reproduction. Even Barney dropped the ball this time, and I had to settle for Lily getting wasted. / Lesson learned: Come up with a new holiday. 1*- ()

Hihkujen yö (2008) (S04E08)

englanti Well, three stars is hitting my peak in the third season. The series quality is taking a dip for me but I'm glad the episode wasn't crammed with more relationship philosophizing or debates about their non-existence. Instead, the creators shifted gears to New York nightlife and Ted's work. But let's be real, there wasn't a whole lot of extra humor, so three stars pretty much sum it up. / Lesson learned: Keep hydrated in case someone gets on your nerves. ()

Alastoman miehen seikkailut (2008) (S04E09)

englanti If someone had said twenty minutes ago that I'd be dishing out five stars for any of the fourth season episodes, I'd have laughed them off and thought they were out of their mind. But lo and behold, I finally got a good laugh after what feels like forever. The creators nailed it with this one. / Lesson learned: Don't be afraid to experiment a little. ()

Verta, luita, hampaita! (2008) (S04E10)

englanti Something incredible happened - two good episodes in a row. I would expect many things, but not this. After dabbling in relationship counseling for a bit, the creators are back to the sitcom game. The episode was a blast, even though there's this bartender I'd never seen before, and everyone's acting like I've got Alzheimer's. Full marks, though, thanks to Marshall. / Lesson learned: Being morally superior is cool, but it doesn't count for much in a fight. ()

Tuulahduksia kotoa (2008) (S04E11)

englanti Wasn't as jazzed about this episode as the previous two, but it wasn't a total letdown either. Ted's sister's storyline didn't do much for me (except for the carols), but Marshall and Robin grabbed the spotlight and absolutely killed it. Plus, it jogged my memory on why I used to find Lily so annoying. It's all coming back to me. / Lesson learned: Don't force yourself where you are not wanted. ()
