Gallialaisista vuonna 52 eaa saavutetun voiton jälkeen Gaius Julius Caesar armeijoineen palaa Roomaan. Hallitseva patriisiluokka pelkää menettävänsä omaisuutensa. Senaatin jäsenet juonittelevat Caesaria vastaan, joka haluaa toteuttaa sosiaalisia uudistuksia. Caesarin ystävä Pompeius Magnus häilyy miesten ystävyyden ja oman yhteiskunnallisen asemansa välillä. Sotilaat Lucius Vorenus ja Titus Pullo kunnostautuvat rintamalla. Tapahtumia saadaan seurata pääasiassa heidän näkökulmastaan. Sotilaat joutuvat osallisiksi mullistaviin tapahtumiin. Rooma (2005)
Where are the days when HBO wasn't synonymous with Game of Thrones? Rome may be boring compared to other cable networks' ancient series, but not every project can be as perfect as Spartacus: Gods of Arena. No one has stuck in my mind from amongst the actors, and there is no other drama that has been done more times than the story of Caesar. The proclaimed work with authenticity did not pay off in the end because nobody wanted to pay for more than 2 seasons. What is important, though, is the fact that the popularity of historical series picked up and the door was open for the subsequent The Tudors or Vikings. #hbo

Season 1 (2005) (S01)
If you are one of those who enjoyed the storyline with Cleopatra in the biography of Gaius Julius Caesar, you will probably despair a little. However, everything runs like clockwork, and March 15 will indeed come at the end. Will a 2nd series about the chaos after his death be more interesting?

Season 2 (2007) (S02)
After March 15, the classic chaos really begins. The period of the end of the Republic, the courtship of Mark Antony and Cleopatra, the rise of Octavian Augustus... And, of course, several storylines on the side. Unfortunately, at the time, HBO chose the most played-out story, which was already hackneyed in Shakespeare's time. IMHO, even the story of Vorenus and Pullo's friendship won't change that. In addition, the time management was very strange in the series, the first episodes went nowhere, and the ending was accelerated to the point of being unclear. Even the snake scene wasn't great.
