Mark Waters, elokuvien Mean Girls ja Perjantai on pahin ohjaaja, tuo nyt valkokankaalle uuden romanttisen komedian Jospa se vain olisi totta. Elokuvan pääosissa nähdään Reese Witherspoon (Blondin kosto, Vanity Fair) ja Mark Ruffalo (13 ja risat, Collateral – väärä aika väärä paikka). Kun David (Mark Ruffalo) vuokraa viehkeän asunnon San Franciscosta, hän ei ikipäivänä osaa odottaa – saati sitten halua – kämppäkaveria. Mutta juuri kun hän alkaa kotiutua uuteen asuntoonsa, nätti nuori nainen nimeltä Elizabeth (Reese Witherspoon) ilmaantuu yllättäen paikalle ja väittää, että asunto on hänen. David olettaa, että asiassa on tapahtunut jokin sekaannus... kunnes Elizabeth katoaa yhtä mystisesti kuin on ilmestynytkin. Lukkojen vaihtaminenkaan ei pidättele naista, joka tulee ja menee niin kuin lystää – ja useimmiten ilmestyy nuhtelemaan Davidia hänen asuntonsa sottaamisesta. David on pian täysin vakuuttunut, että Elizabeth on haamu, ja yrittää auttaa tätä siirtymään takaisin "tuolle puolen". Elizabeth puolestaan huomaa omaavansa käytännöllisiä eteerisiä kykyjä – kuten seinien läpi kävelemisen – mutta on aivan yhtä vakuuttunut siitä, että hän on elossa eikä suostu vaihtamaan hiippakuntaa. Heidän selvittäessään yhdessä totuutta siitä, kuka Elizabeth itse asiassa on ja miten hän on päätynyt nykyiseen tilaansa, heidän suhteensa syvenee rakkaudeksi. I think I've discovered my new guilty pleasure. A very positive comedy that is not as ghostly as a romantic one with then still unknown talent Ruffal and beautiful Reese with puppets in the main roles. In the right mood, you can forgive a few logical lapses and just enjoy the surprisingly successful targeted heavenly shot.

An American romantic comedy that I can see maybe a hundred times a year. Predictable plot, slightly stale scenes spiced up with something a bit new, and good actors. When I have weaker moments I cry a little, other times I laugh. At the very least, this film has filled me with hope that miracles can happen. 4.5 stars.

I watched the movie again after more than a decade and it's still such a cute one-off, nothing deep, just two strangers getting closer. It was fun, almost without the usual excessively sweet pathos, plus the central couple are likeable. My partner even watched it with me without grumbling too much or making his usual stupid comments. A nice easy viewing for a couple’s evening.

Sickly sweet, but nicely delivered. Mark Ruffalo is simply good at playing romantic guys and Reese Witherspoon was fine as the ghost. And the sun-drenched of San Francisco is simply indescribable.

When I saw this movie some time ago on TV, it was quite fun. I enjoyed an hour and a half of easy entertainment, which is not as clever as it may seem at first glance. Thanks to the performances, it is quite tolerable and in addition, there is a good connection between humor and romance. Yes, towards the end it becomes overly sweet, but along the way, you will really laugh here and there. I appreciate this.

It is a ghostly romantic comedy that is unfortunately terribly predictable, but fortunately offers quite a lot of humor and funny situations. At least I had a great time most of the time. I also liked the casting of Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo in the lead roles. The chemistry between them was awesome. (70%)
