During the summer of 1981, a group of friends in New York are completely unprepared for the onslaught of AIDS. What starts as a rumor about a mysterious "gay cancer" soon turns into a major crisis as, one by one, some of the friends begin to fall ill, leaving the others to panic about who will be next. A nice drama spanning almost the entire decade of the 1980s, the beginning of which marked, among other things, the discovery of the still incurable disease AIDS, which kills as mercilessly as any cancer. The film depicts the perception of this from the perspective of a group of gay men who individually deal with the disease in very different ways, regardless of whether they are HIV positive or negative. Of the cast, I was most impressed with Bruce Davison and Mary-Louise Parker. All in all, an enjoyable film that, although a picture of bitter reality, still warms the heart.
