Inspired by the final hours of Kurt Cobain. The film introduces us to Blake (Michael Pitt, The Dreamers), a brilliant, but troubled musician. Success has left him in a lonely place, where livelihoods rest on his shoulders and old friends regularly tap him for money and favors. Last Days is a disastrously stylistic echo of Gus Van Sant’s previous film, Elephant. It’s just boring with a dysfunctional structure. About fifty people walked out of the cinema in the first half. And they were right to do so.
