Babatu

In the mid-nineteenth century, Songhay horsemen served the Dagomba in northern Ghana, fighting against the Ashanti kingdom of Kumasi. When the war ended, the horsemen remained in the country and, led by legendary chiefs - Alpha Bano, Gazari, Babatu - they became masters of the Gurunsi country. As the young adventurous Songhay, Lam and Damouré went to "Babatu" in search of adventures until the colonial conquest. (Cannes Film Festival)
