Közel a szerelemhez

Karcsi, 20, a boy from the ranch becomes a policeman in Budapest. His new colleagues initiate him in a brutal way, but then they make friends. Karcsi, now district commissionary in a ratty neighbourhood of the 8th district, admits an abandoned dog into his office. During a round-up he persecutes a Chinese girl, and having seized her, he lets her go. After a few days the girl knocks on his door, asking him to help her get a new passport. They fall in love, although the girl is pregnant. Karcsi's friends, his family, those belonging to his environment cannot accept his choice, but even at the price of fighting, insubordination, a suicide attempt and of having to break away, he will stick to May-Lia, who gives birth to her child.
