Michael was a small-town boy who grew up dreaming about his eventual success in college football, spending his free time watching the local team run through their drills. Now in college, he finds himself at the bottom of the food chain, rarely afforded the opportunity to play; this runs counter to the expectations of his military family, who expect nothing but the best from their offspring. Michael is oppressed by this until he meets Brenda, a Californian free spirit who helps him stand up to his father, as well as to see the world outside the sphere of the stadium.
