The Sweet Life

To start with, I have to say that there were a few situational jokes and I even laughed a few times. But that's where all the "positives" end and I have to conclude that The Sweet Life is just another piece of junk created on our Czech pond, we have been just floundering in place for several years now and our work is not going anywhere. I’m unable to understand how Czech child actors are incapable of saying a few lines without sounding like reading a poem of the highest degree of awkwardness, and I can’t understand how Czech directors don't have the eye to realize that some scenes (like that two-minute recapitulation of previous scenes in the film accompanied by a 10-year-old song by an unnamed singer from the Czech trash pop scene) are just blatantly sh*t. The actors can't act, they overact and can't be trusted with almost anything, all the dialogue is moronic over and over again, and it's beyond me that this crap even made it to post-production, let alone theaters. And I got talked into going to the cinema (for the second time in my life) to see a Czech film. The worst thing is is that the classic Czech boomer would rather go to see this than the multi-billion dollar Dune, which has crushed the cinema of the last 20 years. (16.03.2024)
