Nacu eno tunnel, sajonara no deguči

I have no complaints about the film in terms of animation and music, but I wasn’t crazy about the plot, and it failed to affect me emotionally. Have you ever watched a movie that tried to convince you that it was a deep, powerful romance, and you just found it shallow and boring, it didn’t make you feel anything, the central couple had virtually no chemistry, and there was no romantic tension? It’s exactly how I felt while watching this. Maybe it's my fault, but every time I saw the collage of extremely important romantic moments (it happens twice, i.e., each time a character becomes aware of their feelings), I couldn’t figure out what was supposed to be so powerful about these scenes. I was trying to remember if any of them actually worked for me - maybe one. Similarly, all the drama went past me, and I failed to understand some of the protagonist’s decisions that stemmed from it. Plus, the writers couldn't even sell me on the supernatural element, although the tunnel exploration part was probably the most interesting part of the whole film. I’m afraid that I won’t remember anything by tomorrow. The only thing that stood out and I really enjoyed was the smooth and efficient way the main character dealt with her classmates' attempts at bullying. It’s all nicely wrapped but the content is kind of "meh". 4.5/10 (31.05.2023)
