At klappe med een hånd

Wealthy, 60 year-old businessman Erik Svensson (JENS OKKING) has been living a dynamic and active professional life, but when his wife dies after many years of illness, he hands of his business. With 50 million in his pocket he is planning a new life in Spain for himself and his beautiful girlfriend Helene (ANN ELEONORA JØRGENSEN). As Svensson is not the kind of man who will allow emotions to control his life, he makes his good lawyer-friend H.C. (JESPER CHRISTENSEN) draw up a contract: if Helene stays with him for 5 years, he will marry her and she earns the right to inherit his fortune. Money is an excellent tool, as Svensson always says, and he is not afraid to use it.

Just as he and Helene are on their way to sweet sunny Spain, fate plays him a trick. H.C. appears in the airport with a letter from an old flame, Lotte (MICHELLE BJØRN ANDERSEN), in which she claims that the passionate affair 26 years ago has not been entirely futile. Svensson has a daughter. If this is true, she is his intestate heiress and the contract with Helene is invalid.

Being a man of action Svensson wants to clear up matters. He sends Helene off to Spain and sets out towards Frederikshavn where Lotte lives. There is just one small problem: He has just sacked his driver. In his distress he addresses the undertaker Anders (PETER GANTZLER), whom he met in connexion with his wife's funeral and talks him into driving for him. Confronted with Lotte and carrying a photo of an unknown young woman, the odd couple proceed to the city of Esbjerg to try to find out if there is any substance in the paternity suit.

In Esbjerg they meet sweet and joyful Heidi (SUSANNE JUHASZ), who turns out to be an interesting acquaintance. Heidi lives alone with her deaf daughter Eva (MICHELLE MALCHOW) and is not in any way impressed by easy cheques or smart remarks. The quiet Anders is imposed with the task of providing a hair from Heidi to Svensson, so that he can have a DNA test made which will ultimately decide the question of paternity.

Eventually this truth-hunting proves to be playing a trick upon the odd couple. Confronted with the warm and hearty Heidi, Anders' chaste heart seems to loose some inhibitions, while Svensson's meeting with his old sweetheart, Lotte threatens to tear his whole new life apart. The blusterer Svensson and the quiet Anders are both forced to seize the day, the moment, to seize love and take the right woman by the hand.
