Jaime Saldaña is schizophrenic, and has lived for almost half his life in a psychiatric facility. Surrounded by his collection of figurines, this gentle Chilean man talks about his youth, God, his mother, his superpowers and whatever else he has on his mind. Director Francisco Javier Rodriguez used a series of audio conversations with 33-year-old Jaime to provide a dignified and intimate platform for his subject. The boundaries blur between reality and fiction in the film, just as they do in Jaime’s head. Rodriguez’s subtle and captivating interplay of image and sound evokes Jaime’s inner world, where anything is possible. The director also questions our own perception of reality - how did our version come to be the norm? (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
