The Sonnemann family is living a utopia. Far out in the countryside of Hunsrück they have set up house. They have decided to forego electricity, gas, running water and cars. Every morning they get up with candlelight. To use the toilet, they have to cross the lawn to the outhouse. In the afternoons there is no TV for the kids; instead, they play in their tree house or paint watercolours with their mother. This modest existence is financed by their work as organic-farmers and seed-breeders. In this nearly middle-age idyll, the planning of the highway “B 50 new” comes up, a threat for live and work of the family. The Sonnemann Family is about life outside of conventions. And it is also about how hard society makes this life. (DOK.fest München)
